Getting ready for my new niece coming early next year!
In Hawaii, we pierce our baby girl’s ears very, very early. Like a few months old, that kind of early. I’m not sure when the tradition started, or how it started, all I know is that, we all do it.
Local mothers in Hawaii, all share the same knowledge that we will be piercing our baby girls ears before they can remember the trauma of it all.
Maybe that’s how the tradition started, because mother’s here realized that if it’s done early enough, our daughters won’t remember the pain. I can see how that kind of makes sense, right?
It’s kind of like circumcision during the second day of life for our baby boys. It’s done before they can remember.
I personally think that mothers here just agreed that our girls will want their ears pierced, no matter what, so why not just get the piercing over with early.
In any case, this is a local tradition here in Hawaii, and no one really knows the origin, like I previously said. All we know is that it’s done.
Also, it’s better to get 14K gold hoops like these shown, or posts, to keep the holes open after piercing.
