So you’re coming to visit Oahu, HI? Great! I don’t know about you, but when I go on vacation, I love to shop! I love visiting different shopping malls and shopping centers and seeing how they measure up to the malls that I frequent at home.
Well, if you are going to pay a visit to my island, then you will need to know where to go, based on the kind of mall that would fit. Because they are all different.
I also did a blog post previously on taking a day trip in Hawaii, and it’s easy to pay a visit during the day to a shopping center.

Ala Moana Shopping Center
Ala Moana is family friendly, but more of a high end shopping center that includes high end brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Nordstrom, among many others. If you don’t have a high budget, you may not want to spend too much time here.
However there are FABULOUS eateries here, which includes a Shirokiya eating village that has great Asian cuisine.
This is by far, the largest mall in Hawaii, and if you want to be wow’d you won’t be disappointed.
Ala Moana is more of a tourist spot, since it’s closer to Waikiki, so if you want to visit all the tourist hot spots, this is it.
Pearlridge is a little more local, in nature. It’s in central Pearl City, HI and local families frequent here since there are less tourists here, its a little more affordable, and the shops here are more in line with the average family income, and not so high end. There are shops here like forever 21, Macys, and Sears.
Windward mall is just like Pearlridge, however it is on the windward side of Hawaii, in Kaneohe, HI. It’s way more family friendly, and is geared for bringing children to the mall, featuring a play area, choo-choo train, and various other kiddie rides. The dino exhibit is held here every summer, and a gigantic fun factory is here. The shops here are more cost friendly and locally owned boutiques. There is also macys and sears here for larger retail stores, and Bath and Bodyworks as well.
This is by far, the smallest mall on Oahu. It is located in Kahala, HI and more senior citizens frequent the mall due to the local neighborhood surrounding the mall. There is a Wholefoods here, as well as Zales, Macys, and CPK. There are some great locally owned boutiques as well, and a fabulous candy store called Carousel Candy! There is also a movie theater here, albeit small.
Ka Makana Ali’i
Ka Makana is the newest shopping center in Hawaii, located in Kapolei, HI. It is large, outdoors, and has a good mix of family friendly vibes and everything else! Singles, teens, families all have something to do and see at Ka Makana. The newest theater is here, good mix of shops including Victoria Secret, Sephora, Old Navy, and more! There’s a center courtyard that often has great performances. Always worth a see when you visit!
